MXPX
‘Secret Weapon’

By Sarah Boger (Sarah@bandvibe.com)
Dated: 12/02/07

Since 1994, kids all over have been singing along to MXPX. With their 10th release on Tooth & Nail, ‘Secret Weapon’ they keep the tradition of pop punk going. With uplifting lyrics like “you’re strong enough to face your darkest conflict”, it gives the scene of hope that even you can get through the hard times with just a little perseverance. “You always had some trouble with authority and that’s the way goring up’s supposed to be” is a classic punk out look that punks just won’t fit into societies ideals. With the anti-emo ballad “Sad Sad Song” , they poke a little fun at the typical emo rock song that’s filled with sad lyrics that you normally sing along to. Secret Weapon is filled with raw chords and amazing breakdowns, they deliver with the lyrics like they have been for nearly 15 years now. Out of all of the bands that have been giving us great music for years, MXPX have grown so much musically, they really aren’t afraid to try new things, or to stick with the classics.

Just as I used to drive around singing along to Teenage Politics, I know kids will do the same with Secret Weapon.
