The latest album “Hiding Inside The Horrible Weather” by My American
Heart proves that this band has a right to call themselves artists.
There is really something for everyone to enjoy on this record. The
album goes from romantic songs such as “Tired & Uninspired” to more
controversial material such as in the song “Boys! Grab Your Guns”.
This album has a way of being serious, emotional, and catchy all at
the same time. In an interview I did with the band bassist Dustin Hook
said, “There are songs where you’d think we’re on the verge of suicide
when you hear it and then the next song on the CD you’re thinking that
we just hit the lottery. There’s a lot of emotion”. I completely agree
with his assertion. For such a young band, it’s amazing how much
insight the members have into relationships, feelings, and the beauty
as well as the faults of the world. The title of the album “Hiding
Inside The Horrible Weather” is almost like a preface to the concepts
that are found by listening to the lyrics. No one is able to escape
their surroundings. My American Heart embraces that and was able to
melt thoughtful lyrics and brilliant instrumental pieces to create
what I believe is their best work yet.
