Driver Side Impact
‘The Very Air We Breathe’

By Sarah Boger (Sarah@bandvibe.com)
Dated: 06/21/07

Driver Side Impact’s debut album ‘The Very Air We Breathe’ starts off very calm with a song aptly named ‘Introduction’. It slowly fades form waves into a electronic beat. Strong metal guitars with pop-punk vocals back up emo lyrics with a slight undertone of sadness. Catchy beats and emotional lyrics suck the listener into the album and takes a tight hold. ‘I took the short road home today, just to find out you’re leaving’ and ‘I’ve been through worse but I still breathe’ are only a couple of examples of the catchy lyrics that you catch yourself singing all day. A mix of synth, metal and emo make up the electric sound of Driver Side Impact. Some of the lyrics like ‘think in words, are all my thoughts’ and ‘Strange actors will call on you and say I can’t see’ just don’t hit the mark with the impression they are trying to leave on you. Also, some of the songs seem a little drawn out, they sound like they’re going to end but then start back up, almost in full force. But the synth beat that runs randomly in some of the songs, keeps you on your feet and mixes up the album. A strong debut from this band has the music world waiting to see what comes next.
