A Day To Remember
‘For Those Who Have Heart’

By Kayli Versteeg (Kayli@bandvibe.com)
Dated: 06/02/07

“I honestly think we’re doing something different.” Says Jeremy (lead singer) in their small, slightly smelly van after putting on a great show and counting up their money from their merch they had sold that night. And he’s right. A Day To Remember’s new album “For Those Who Have Heart” stands out from all the other “emo” or “hardcore” bands because of their ability to smoothly mix two genres that are vastly different from each other. They successfully fuse Pop-punk and mosh creating a very interesting new sound. Doing something like this is always risky because the Pop-punk fans aren’t always fond of the Mosh aspects of it and vice versa. However A Day To Remember has no lack of fans. The second they walked on stage the crowd went crazy, 95% of the people there were singing along, moshing, and crowd surfing. I have never seen a crowd more excited for an opening band.

Their lyrics may be a little self-aggrandizing, but not in a way where it seems as though they find themselves superior, but in a way that shows their confidence. Things such as them chanting, “Mark my words we’re taking over the world,” or “We came, we saw, we conquered,” really helps get a crowd pumped for a show. Everyone in the band has great stage performance. The singer is especially talented because he has the ability to go from catchy Pop-esk singing, to deep belting screaming in a matter of seconds.

I highly recommend this CD if you listen to either pop-punk or mosh. It has a very advanced sound, especially considering it is only their second CD. It is one of the most well rounded CDs I’ve ever listened to and because of it I have now become a huge ADTR fan.
