SARAH C: How did you guys come together as a band?
COREY: Travis and matt played together for a few years
then I kind of just meet them at a bar, auditioned
that's how I got in then Paul in a year after our bass
player left.
SARAH C: How did you come up with the name Trivium?
COREY: Actually, the name came from the first singer of the
band and was kicked out but we just kept the name.
SARAH C: How old is everyone?
COREY: I'm 23. Travis is 25.. 24 something like that. Paul and
matt are both 21.
SARAH C: Who would you dream line up be with?
COREY: Probably like Metallica, Megadeath, and Iron Maiden.
That kind of thing.
SARAH C: If you were stranded on an island what 3 things would
you bring with you?
COREY: Guitar, Ipod and food.
SARAH C: What is it like touring with Atreyu?
COREY: It's been cool. Playing on tour in general is fun. The
Family Values Tour there's a lot of other bands on
that tour but Atreyu we are closer to and hang out
with a lot more. So it pretty cool. Its been really
fun so hopefully we will be able to play with the
again down the road but its been really fun.
SARAH C: What is your favorite song to play live?
COREY: It changes from tour to tour we play the same songs
all the time so its always fun playing songs we
haven't played in a long time. So I think on this tour
we don't play it every show because of our set times
they vary from what we are doing. But its been really
fun playing a song off our first album called 'Pillars
of Serpents". We haven't done for a couple of years so
that's been my favorite so far on this tour.
SARAH C: What is you favorite place to play?
COREY: San Diego is pretty sweet but I think my favorite
place to tour is Japan and Australia is pretty sweet.
SARAH C: What do you do to pass time while on tour?
COREY: Watch movies play video games or just go hang out with
other bands hang out with Atreyu drink stuff like that.
SARAH C: What is your craziest tour story?
COREY: I not really sure what is crazy its all kind of normal
to us just stuff to entertain ourselves.
SARAH C: What originally got you into music? Who were your
influences growing up?
COREY: The first thing that got me into hard rock would be
Guns-N-Roses and then from there just found out
about other bands like metallica and just kind of
branched off. Guns-N-Roses is where it all started
thanks to my parents not liking the cd, I took it.
SARAH C: Were your parents supportive?
COREY: Yah, my parents love to come to the shows. My dad has a
Trivium tattoo. Yah they love it!
SARAH C: Why did you decide to go a different way on your new
CD, "The Crusade", vocally speaking?
COREY: That's like the vocal styling we always wanted to do.
It started out that way Matt started singing at 14, and
his voice wasn't that good, so he started screaming to
sound ok, and he has been working on his vocals lessons,
so when went in to do the album his voice was really
strong. So we said, lets do that because that is what
we were always trying to get to. We finally got to do
it. So we just went with that and wit the next record
we just want to progress from there.
SARAH C: How did your last tour go and what do you expect from
San Diego?
COREY: Last tour, we were in Europe. Last time we played San
Diego was I think the headlining and that was a lot of
fun. We have played here a lot of time. So we have
started to see familiar faces. It really fun playing
here and every time we played here the crowds been
really awesome. Sounds of the underground was killer
and every time we come the crowds just rock. They love
the rock and the weathers nice. Soma is really cool to
play also.
SARAH C: Any thing else you want to say to your fans?
COREY: Thanks for coming out to the show and buying the
album. After this tour, it will be the last time we
play in the states for like a year. Next, we will be
working on the new album. So next time, we are playing
here we will have a new CD, new stuff to play so it
will hopefully be fun. So thank you San Diego.
