BV: First of all, with a new CD out, a music video on Fuse, and on tour with Cartel how are you feeling right now?
PM: Tired. No, great it’s like we’re really fortunate with all this stuff going on. We look towards the future for bigger stuff to happen, just continue the ball rolling. The music is first and foremost. All this stuff is sick.

BV: Being from New York, what do you think about your shows and fans on the West Coast?
PM: Uh, well we’ve only done a few shows on the West Coast so far. We’re just kind of starting our fan base out here. But, I think there’s a cool, laidback feel to the shows. It’s not rowdy necessarily, but you can tell that people are really listening and are tuned to it. I don’t know it’s kind of a cool vibe out here. I love the weather too.

BV: What does your new CD “After the Room Clears” say about your band?
PM: It’s just kind of like a pop record. It says everything about our band because it is our band. It’s not fake or bullshit. It’s just what it is. It’s a good pop record.

BV: How does your writing process go?
PM: (Brian) I’ll write the basic composition of the songs but I don’t write all the arrangements. We all kind of do the arrangements. What I write of the song isn’t necessarily how it’s conveyed completely. I’ll make some cords. If it’s cool cords, memorable cords and then run it back with melody and lyrics, it all kind of flows simultaneously. I don’t freelance write. I’ve never wrote lyrics by themselves and then put them to music. I always conveyed it all at once, like the rolling tune.

BV: When your band was in its early stages what were you listening to?
PM: We were listening to shitty ass punk rock music. We were listening to other stuff too. It’s good we didn’t start our musical existence with like crappy crap.

BV: What made you decide on the name Permanent Me?
PM: We had to change from another name because we were getting sued by this bar band out of the city. We were typing up random words on the computer screen and Permanent Me is what we came up with. We played poker because they (the other and members) thought of a band name too. So we played poker to see what band name we got. We lost but we still got the name. The other name was Close To You but we thought that would be gay.

BV: Is there a song that you especially enjoy playing live?
PM: 4 AM, Black Jaw, and By The Time. All of our songs are singles. We’re going to be the biggest band on Earth.

BV: What’s the most interesting thing that’s happened on tour so far?
PM: We got flashed a lot this tour. We had never seen breasts before it was pretty exciting. Some girl at the venue in Tucson, Arizona came up to the van and she didn’t even know who we were. And she comes and puts her boobs on the van window. So I open the window to say something to her and she climbs in the window and falls into the van. And she just hung out with us for an hour and we made fun of her.

BV: Where do you see your band in the future?
PM: Hell. Broken down somewhere. We’ll hopefully still be here. We’ll be older and our backs with hurt a little more. I hope we’re successful and still touring. Hopefully we’ll have a nice fan base from our CD.

BV: What advice would you give bands just starting out?
PM: Keep going until you think you’ve written the best song you’ve ever heard in your life. Keep writing.

BV: What’s the best part of being in music?
PM: Making an awesome record, touring, not having a real job. Laughing at society because we’re all crazy on the road and other people live life not knowing they’re alive. Everyone should go on tour for like a month and just experience living. And then you realize you’re actually alive, like everyone else.

BV: Do you have anything to say to your fans at Bandvibe?
PM: Keep with us. Come to the shows and grab our CD. We work hard on our music. Sing along and dance because it’s fun. You’ll have fun I promise.
