DATE OF INTERVIEW: 02.27.07

BAND MEMBERS:

BV: When did you guys first form the band?
Emery: Originally 3 or 4 years ago. David wasn’t in it in the beginning but we picked him up somewhere along the way.

BV: How do you guys all know each other?
Emery: Me and a few of the other guys went to college together and we started a band and it just kind of moved from there and we met the other guys along the way.

BV: How old are the guys in the band?
Emery: We’re all 26 and Dave is the youngest, he’s only 22

BV: In November you real eased “The Question” deluxe edition with 5 acoustic tracks on it. What made you guys decide you wanted to these songs acoustical.
Emery: Well people edit and do new releases and we wanted to do that but didn’t want to just try and get money, we wanted to do something that was really good and we’re really proud of it. There’s also a DVD and its really good I mean we really worked hard and we got a good quality guy to do it. We thought it would be a really cool thing to do to put out a really good product like that.

BV: Did you find it hard to kind of mellow it down a bit and change up the songs and make them acoustic?
Emery: Not really. But you know we really enjoy the songs like that, it’s almost that we prefer music that way.

BV: What are some of your favorite songs to play live?
Emery: Well we really like playing new stuff for crowds to see how they react.

BV: So are you guys writing right now?
Emery: Yeah, we are actually recording right after this tour.

BV: So what is your writing process?
Emery: I don’t know. I guess it kind of depends. We’ll be walking around and one of us will have a lyric that pops up in our head and we’ll write it down and kind of take it from there. Or you know it could sometimes start with a really cool guitar riff or drum beat and we’ll just make the song around that.

BV: Who mainly writes the songs?
Emery: Well Devin and I usually write the lyrics.

BV: So what is the “Take Action Tour” all about?
Emery: It started as suicide awareness and prevention specifically, but now its kind of grown into being about any teen anger or any problems. It’s about the Youth Hotline and how if people need help they can call it up and just say “Hey I don’t know what to do”. If your needing attention and your not getting it, this lets people know that you have somewhere to call to get some help.

BV: Are you enjoying the tour so far?
Emery: Yeah, all the bands are really great. Its probably one of the most fun tours we’ve been on yet.

BV: Do you guys prefer to be on tour or at home?
Emery: At home for the most part. I mean it’s tiring. Most people don’t realize that we’ve been here since the early afternoon. No one really wants to go out every night.

BV: How did you come up with your bands name?
Emery: Well I just thought of it one day and we had a couple of choices that we were thinking about and we just kept widdeling and widdeling away different names until we were left Emery and we all thought it was a really cool name.

BV: Is there anything you want to say to your fans that are going to be reading this?
Emery: Our album is coming out late June. Its going to be a really, really great album.

BV: Would you say it’s your best?
Emery: Some people have been saying that actually so I don’t know. I’m already a really big fan of it and really proud of it.
