Christian : What game are you guys playing?

Matt: Halo, Halo 2, we play a lot of that on tour. It brings people together, you know, play a game together, hate each other afterwards, it’s like a brotherhood.

Christian : What’s the best thing to eat on tour?

Matt: Hmm, the best thing to eat.. is Chipotle.

Christian : Can you tell us about where you’ve been recently, what are your favorite cities?

Matt: Anywhere in Texas is really cool. Those kids, and those adults, are all awesome. We seem to do really well in middle America, Iowa, Kansas area, the kids out there are always really responsive. Obviously Seattle is one big one and Chicago is a good town. So if you’re not one of those towns, you better start rockin out!

Christian : What do you think of the San Diego fans?

Matt: I like them! I was just downstairs talking to them for 45 minutes, they’re intelligent.

Christian : What would you say inspires your music?

Matt: All music, is inspired by other music, sonically, I don’t think anything is really original anymore. I think content can be original, what your singing about, how your delivery is, and the melodies, I think a lot of that can still be original. I think what inspires a lot of that for us, is experiences in life, we just write music we love, and hope that the people love it too.

Christian : Who would you say are your musical inspirations?

Matt: When I was in high school, I thought Third Eye Blind was the best thing ever to happen to music. When I got a little older, I realized the Beatles started and did everything first, before anyone ever could. You can’t even get away with scratched dub without ripping off the Beatles anymore. They’ve been a huge inspiration. Bands today that I like, I like Say Anything, I like Brand New, I like good melodies, and good lyrics, and something that’s intricate enough to warrant a second listen.

Christian : You guys have your first full length cd out. Congratulations! How did everything come together?

Matt: The songs for the cd were written over a span of 3 years. The oldest song on the cd is about 3 years old and that’s “Who Needs Air.” It wasn’t a songwriting process where we sat down and had a time crunch and said “Listen, we need to write songs.” It was more like, “Here’s our best songs over the last three years.” They sounded like they were meant to be on an album together, so it worked out really well.

Christian : What kind of upcoming projects are you looking forward to?

Matt: We might be shooting a new video in the New Year, so we’ll see what happens with that. The label is doing a really good job with marketing and stuff. They’re gonna try to get us played on the radio which is really exciting. We just hope to tour our butts off in the New Year and bring the music to people who want to hear it.

Christian : Do you have a name for your tour van?

Matt: No we don’t, but we’ve put 100 thousand miles on it this year, in 10 months, that’s 10 thousand a month! Hopefully we can crack the whip & tour for another 100k!
