Michelle: So where did you grow up?
Derrick:Where did I grow up? Weird story, a lot of places actually. I grew up… I was born in Montana, then I moved to Spain then I lived in Germany for eight years, and then I lived in Japan for three but I consider my home Texas, but my band is from Flint Michigan. So I live in Flint Michigan.

Michelle: So you have pretty much been everywhere?
Derrick: Yeah, I travel a lot but it’s cool when you get to play shows overseas cause it’s like ya know….

Michelle: Where is your favorite place you’ve been so far, besides Texas?
Derrick: Overseas or in the States?
Michelle: Overseas.
Derrick: Overseas? I don’t know, I like the UK a lot. But favorite…. probably Germany I guess. The food is so good.
Dakotah: Is it really?
Derrick: It’s delicious.
Michelle: I think I’ve had German food once.
Derrick: Really?
Michelle: But maybe not.
Dakotah: I’ve had German chocolate cake.
Derrick: Haha. My mom makes me that for my birthday like every year. It’s pretty delicious.

Dakotah: So speaking of food, do you like crunchy or creamy peanut butter?
Derrick: I’d say crunchy.
Dakotah and Michelle: Sweet.
Derrick: Excellent.

Michelle: What kind of jelly?
Derrick: I like strawberry.
Dakotah: What is going on with strawberry?
Derrick: I know…. It’s so common.
Michelle: I know, how come nobody is saying grape.
Derrick: I don’t really like grape stuff. Like, I hate grape soda….. It’s weird.
Dakotah: Ew! But I do like grapes.
Derrick: I like grapes, I like green grapes.
Dakotah: Yes.
Michelle: Ew, no.

Derrick: Red or green apples?
Dakotah: I’d say gala. But I do like green.
Derrick: Granny smith apples.
Dakotah: Yum. So bomb!
Derrick: Haha. So bomb.

Michelle: What kind of cereal?
Derrick: I don’t eat breakfast at all. I used to eat Raisin Brand a lot when I was growing up. But know either I don’t wake up for breakfast or I’m just not….
Michelle: But your favorite is Cinnamon Toast Crunch?
Derrick: No.
Michelle: Yeah.
Derrick: No, I wish it was though.
Dakotah: I think she wishes is was.

Michelle: What bands did you grow up listening to?
Derrick: Me? I listened to a lot of classic rock. Led Zeppelin was like my favorite band. But just from my dad and all of his CD’s ya know. But like Saves the Day, stuff like that.
Dakotah: Yeah, we keep hearing a lot about them.
Derrick: Yeah Saves the Day is the band on the tour…. Everyone loves that band.
Michelle: We’ll have to see them.
Derrick: They’re awesome.
Dakotah: This is our fourth Warped Tour this year, and we haven’t seen them once.
Derrick: It’s hard to see all of the bands.
Dakotah: I know.

Michelle: So what are your plans for after Warped Tour?
Derrick: After Warped Tour we have a headlining tour here, then after that we have a few days with Coheed and Cambria, that’s in the mid west area. So it’s only like four or five shows. And then after that I think we’re going to do a little more Warped. Then we have some time off, then we go to the UK with Atreyu and 36 Crazy Fists. Then we do a full US tour with Atreyu.
Dakotah: Oh, we are going to that one!
Derrick: Yeah it’s going to be sick.
Dakotah: You’re coming here right?
Derrick: Full US, we’ll be in California for sure. Yeah, we’ve been on tour for a really long time.

Dakotah: I know. Do you miss home?
Derrick: I really don’t know what home is anymore. I’m used to it though, I wake up in a new city everyday.

Michelle: How long have you guys been a band?
Derrick: The band’s been around for about four and a half years, but the two of us have only been in the band for about two. Because the two of us are from Texas and the rest are from Michigan, they all grew up going to high school together.

Dakotah: So you’re one of the new guys. How do you like it?
Derrick: I love it, it’s fun, it’s like best friends ya know.

Dakotah: Nice guys?
Derrick: Yeah, It’s amazing. Awesome, I enjoy it.

Michelle: What part of Texas?
Derrick: San Antonio, and Jason’s from Corpis.
Michelle: That’s where my grandpa is from.
Derrick: Crazy, small world.
Michelle: Small town.

Dakotah: Alright, well I think that’s it. Say Bye to the camera.
