BAND: HOT LIKE (A) ROBOT
INTERVIEWED BY: molly@bandvibe.com
One of the biggest local indie bands is Hot Like (A) Robot, who recently performed with Letter Kills at Soma. Bassist Chris has lived in San Diego his whole life, along with guitarist Nick and drummer Adam.
Where do these native San Diegans love to play shows? "Personally I really like to play the Casbah," says Chris. "The sound is good and it's a very nice atmosphere. For all ages, the Che is always fun."
As a member of a tight-knit community of local San Diego bands, Chris lists Jade Shader, First Wave Hello, and Plastic Explosive as some of his favorites. "There are so many good bands in this city we forget how spoiled we all really are," Chris says.
Currently, with three releases under their belt, the band is almost ready to release a fourth as part of the Skeleton Crew label. Tentatively titled "Virginite," this 14-track album will be hitting stores in March.
After a few shows locally and in Vegas and Tucson, Hot Like (A) Robot plan to start a tour in February and, according to Chris, "going until we run out of money." Catch them on January 26th at Black Box Studios (2469 Broadway) with City on Film, The Finish, and First Wave Hello.
Band Influences: Failure, No Knife, Three Mile Pilot, Drive Like Jehu, Pixies, Boilermaker, Tanner, Fugazi
