BAND MEMBERS:

Q1. What type of band are you?
We are a southern Cali surfer rock band with a heavy reggae influence.

Q2. Tell us the story of how Gecko got started.
Well Jeff (guitars) and Glenn (drums) were looking to start a new project so they posted an ad on line. Shawn (bass), Mike (vocals), and myself (Matthew, dj) answered the ad. The rest just fell into play on its own. This band has had that kind of magic since day one. As if it was all meant to be.

Q3. Who writes the songs and what are they about?
Well, it usually starts with Jeff setting the pace with a sick riff, and we all just build off of that. Song writing can come about in so many different ways. We are all major contributors in every song we write.

Q4. How do you promote your band and shows?
There are so many different ways to promote these days. We try to attack every avenue possible. Myspace, emails, street teams, you name it, were probably doing it.

Q5. Describe your show, visual and musically.

Q6. What are biggest obstacles for bands?
Not killing each other after countless shows, road trips, and practices. Which isn’t a problem for us. We are like brothers. After that…. hitting the big time is next to impossible. In L.A. county alone, there are thousands of bands all trying to do the same thing!!! The odds are definitely stacked against us. Might as well be playing lotto. Unless of course your bands name is Gecko!

Q7. What is your definition of rock-n-roll?
Rock-n-roll is the more aggressive side of love, passion, art, and music all rolled into one. I quote Twisted Sister, “I wanna rock, ROCK!!!”

Q8. What is the most creative gift a fan has given to you?
Giving us their time to listen to what we have to say and play, to really soak it in and share our hearts. Engaging with us with us in our trials and tribulations. Priceless.

Q9. What inspires you to do what you do?
I have severe ADD and IBS, (Im speaking for the whole band on both of those statements) Seriously though, for me personally, its something that is deep inside my heart and soul that I just have to express thru my music.

Q10. What should we expect of Gecko in the 2006?
Lotta shows all over Southwestern America. New songs. Lots of free swag. More shots of Jagermeister then you can shake a stick at. And hopefully, a major record deal!
