BAND: FM Revolver
INTERVIEWER: ChrisP@bandvibe.com
1. Where does the bands name come from?
The band name was a suggestion brought to us by Andy when looking for a new name after we'd added a few members.
2. Who are the bandmembers and what instuments do they play?
Josh - Vocals
Chris - Guitar
John - Guitar
Andy - Bass
Mike - Drums
3. Are there any non-musical influences for the songs you play, any books or movies that makes you sit down and create music?
Musically, I think there are tons of different influences and I'd be hard pressed to cite major examples. Lyrically, however, I draw a lot of inspiration from the books I'm reading at the time. Right now i'm reading Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie, which sparked the inspiration for the title one of our newest tracks, "The Magnolia Assassination." I find it amazingly fulfilling to ingest an idea, swirl it around in your brain for a couple days and put it down on paper absolutely nothing like the original thought.
4. What makes fm revolver stand out from other bands?
We try to make music that is appealing to all kinds of people, not just those who prefer progressive or hard rock. We put a lot of time and effort into creating music and writing lyrics that flow within the context of the idea that we're presenting; rarely will you find FMR throwing down licks and words just to bust out a song. We feel that effort shows in the quality of music we make and helps us stand out from other bands.
5. What do you consider your biggest accomlishment as a band so far?
Depends on who you ask. :) There have been shows where we've drawn more than the headliners of the tour we were supporting. There have been times when people will drop us an email and tell us that they absolutely love what we're doing. Granted, those feel really good at the time, but our biggest accomplishment to date would be recording and producing our EP "Leaving Madeira". It was a huge step in the evolution of FMR and we're very proud of it.
6. What is in store for fm revolver fans in 2006?
We plan to continue the evolution of the band into something bigger and better than what our fans have seen thus far, including enhancements to our live performances using video and lighting. We're looking into going back to the studio in the late summer, early fall, to produce and record our second EP. We just want to keep people interested and involved in the band, so fan interaction will be a big part of the coming year.
7. If you could tour with any 2 bands who would you take to the road with?
Again, depends on who you ask. I'm sure we'd each give you a completely different answer with one common thread: someone who's fans will like us. :)
8. Any one you want to thank?
Everyone who listens to FMR and wants to be a part of their future success.
